MINUTE entry before the Honorable Edmond E. Chang: There are five Defendants named in Schedule A. R. 3. The Plaintiff shall review the opinion in Estee Lauder Cosmetics Ltd. v. Schedule A, 334 F.R.D. 182, 18789 (N.D. Ill. 2020) (discussing joinder in trademark cases; although joinder in patent cases is governed by 35 U.S.C. 299(a), the text and governing principles are similar to Civil Rule 20), and file a supplemental memorandum addressing the propriety of joinder by 07/23/2025. In lieu of the supplemental memorandum, by the same deadline, the Plaintiff may file an amended complaint with (a) one defendant or (b) a subset of the defendants along with a memo explaining why joinder of those defendants is proper. The motion [2] to seal is granted provisionally. The Court will again review the propriety of sealing when evaluating the underlying motions. The motion [6] to attend hearing remotely is terminated without prejudice. No in-person appearance has been ordered yet.
