Aug. 8, 2025

MINUTE entry before the Honorable LaShonda A. Hunt: This case has been assigned to the calendar of Judge LaShonda A. Hunt. Plaintiff has filed a schedule A 2 and its ex parte motion for leave to conduct expedited discovery and electronic service 12 under seal without filing a motion to seal. Furthermore, Plaintiff has filed an amended schedule A showing the name of the lone remaining Defendant 11. Plaintiff has not established exceptional circumstances that would provide any basis for sealing the names of associated defendants listed in its original schedule A 2. See Union Oil Co. of Cal. v. Leavell, 220 F.3d 562, 567-68 (7th Cir. 2000) ("Many a litigant would prefer that the subject matter of a case. be kept from the curious (including its business rivals and customers), but the tradition that litigation is open to the public is of very long standing."). Thus, the Clerk of Court is directed, forthwith, to unseal Plaintiff's schedule A 2 and its motion for leave 12. In addition, Plaintiff's ex parte motion for leave to conduct expedited discovery and electronic service 12 is granted in part and denied in part. The Court grants Plaintiff's request for expedited discovery as the Court finds that expedited discovery is warranted to obtain Defendant's contact information. Enter Order Authorizing Expedited Discovery. Plaintiff's request for electronic service of process pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 4(f)(3) is denied without prejudice. Plaintiff seeks authorization to effectuate service of process by email and electronic publication but has not yet shown that it has a reliable email address at which it may reach Defendant. Any renewed motion must include these details. The motion hearing set for 8/21/25 14 is stricken. If no other relief has been sought, Plaintiff is ordered to file a status report by 8/29/25 updating the Court on the progress of expedited discovery and proposed next steps in the case. Finally, the Clerk's office is directed to update the caption and docket, forthwith, to reflect that the Defendant in this case is "Cute Cat Claw." Mailed notice.

28

Sept. 11, 2025

MINUTE entry before the Honorable LaShonda A. Hunt: Plaintiff's motion for default and default judgment [25] is granted in part as to the request for entry of default. Plaintiff has shown that Defendant Cute Cat Claw was served on 8/19/25 and failed to plead or otherwise defend this action by 9/9/25 [24].
